Siobhan and Didi sat together on a chair while everyone else talked. They sat idly and talked absently with one another. They're hands were intertwined as Didi was practically on the younger woman.
Tim looked at the girls. Don't call us over, Siobhan hoped in her mind.
"Hey, Sio, Di!" Tim called, "come over here!" Failure, Tim.
The girls got up and walked over to the group. Everyone was there, from Lacey to Crystal. Paige was the first to hug Siobhan and Didi, and everyone else took turns.
Casey noticed the girls' hands. "So, what have you girls been up to?" he asked, being indiscreet.
"You got something to say, James?" Siobhan accused. She didn't like when people were attempting to show her up. "You do, say it aloud so everyone can hear."
Casey shrugged. "I meant nothing by it, Sio, you know that," he gave the girl a hug and kissed the top of her head. "I've missed you. You know it."
Siobhan smiled apologetically. "Sorry," she whispered. She gripped Didi's hand tighter.
Didi got the message. "Uh, we gotta tell ya'll somethin', " she twanged, her normally clam, low pitched voice going very high-pitched. She did that when she was nervous. Her palms were sweaty.
"What?" Lacey asked as she stared at her two friends and former roommates.
Didi moved uncomfortably, making Siobhan uncomfortable. "Well..." Didi began, looking at Siobhan and hoping the message she was sending her with her eyes would come through nice and clear.
Siobhan didn't hesitate. She took Didi's face and kissed her with so much force her knees almost gave way. When the kiss ended Siobhan nonchalantly said, "we're, y'know, dating."
Everyone's mouth hung open. Everyone but Casey. "You're ... what?" Katie asked. "You mean you're a couple?" She didn't sound freaked out, she looked genuinely happy for the two.
The couple nodded in unison. "Yes," they said at the same time. They were perfectly in sync.
"How long?" Lee asked, speaking up for the first time.
Mike spoke next. "We're real happy for ya'll though, right?" he asked as he took both the girls into a big bear hug.
Everyone spoke in a jumble but they all seemed pleased. All of them. "We are really happy," Crystal said as she took her turn hugging them. Everyone ended up getting a turn.
"So..." Aaron asked awkwardly. "Have you two..."
Didi and Siobhan broke out into laughter. Aaron was the cutest boy ever but he was going through puberty still. It only made sense for him to ask such a blunt question. They didn't answer the question, though, they just rubbed Aaron's head.
Siobhan took Didi. "Well, wasn't this a fun way to tell our friends that we're together?" she asked as she gave Didi a little peck on the lips.
Didi laughed. "It was," she said as she allowed her girlfriend to give her more kisses.
"Get a room," someone yelled jokingly.
One of the boys spoke up. Lee, they thought. "No, it's hot."
The girls giggled and continued the kiss. They looked above. "We're under mistletoe, chill."
What a fun reunion. |
